Roy W. Risley, 98, of Hutchinson, died February 19, 2015 at Good Samaritan Center. He was born February 19, 1917 the son of Wiley W. and Milia M. McGee Risley.
He was a 1935 graduate of St. John High School and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a Rural Mail Carrier. He was a member of the Church of Christ since age 14, and was a Gospel Minister and was able to perform wedding ceremonies.
On June 6, 1936 he married Margaret M. Foreman in Stafford, KS, she died December 28, 2004. Other survivors include his children; Marilyn Copeland, Hutchinson, KS, Richard Risley, Pratt, KS, Larry Risley, Wichita, KS, twelve grandchildren; Brad and Brian Risley, Jason, Scott and Tracey Risley, Jody Barnett, Jacky Rock, Jimmy and Janey Copeland, Rick Williams, Marty and Kelly Risley, 21 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons; Eldon and Bill Risley, a great-grandson, Christopher Copeland and four brothers; Earl, Ray, Ralph and Buren Risley.
Funeral service will be 10:00am, Tuesday at Eastwood Church of Christ, 2500 N. Plum, Hutchinson, KS, with Jimmie Keas presiding. Burial will follow in the Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John, KS, with services by Jimie-Wray Mead. Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 9:00pm Sunday and 9:00am to 9:00pm Monday with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm all at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to Know your Bible in care of the funeral home.
