Larry E. Dodge, 64, died Feb. 14, 2015 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born May 16, 1950, the son of Leroy Eugene and Melva Cooper Dodge. He was a graduate of Hutchinson High School and had received his Bachelor of Theology from Baptist Bible College and Bachelor of Music Education from Oklahoma Baptist University. He was a music teacher for Hutchinson Schools and retired from Holy Cross Catholic School in May of 2012. Since retirement he has substituted for various schools. He was a very active member of Westside Baptist Church. He loved to sing and was known for his singing voice. On August 12, 1972 he married Phyllis Hall in Hutchinson. She survives.
Other survivors include his parents, Melva and Chet Ansel, South Hutchinson, a son, John Matthew (Jaime) Dodge, Hutchinson, a daughter, Michelle Dodge, Hutchinson, a brother, Russell (Terry) Dodge, Lewisville, TX, 2 sisters, Frankie (Bob) Robinson, Hutchinson, and Pearl (Michael) Hacker, Queen Creek, AZ, 5 grandchildren, Colten, Devon, Caitlin, Jordan, and Caileigh, a foster granddaughter, and 2 great grandchildren, Landon and Jalen.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Eugene Dodge, and a sister, Brenda Huff.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday at Westside Baptist Church, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Adrian and Pastor Eldon Smith presiding. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Visitation will be held from 9AM to 9PM Wed., with the family present from 6-8PM that evening, all at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Hutchinson. Memorial contributions may be made to Westside Baptist Church or TECH ALS, both in care of the funeral home.
