Joseph "Joe" E. Emmerich, 90, died October 26, 2014 at Elm Grove Estates, Hutchinson. He was born November 9, 1923 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Albert and Mary Pleyer Emmerich. He was a graduate of Southwest High School, St. Louis, MO and received his Bachelor's degree in Marketing from St. Louis University. He worked for Anheuser Busch, City Beverage, and Wismer Distributing. He attended Holy Cross Catholic Church. He was a Petty Officer 2nd Class in the United States Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He married Joan Appleby on June 21, 1952 in St. Louis, MO. He was a devoted husband and loving father.
Survivors include his wife, Joan, of the home, 6 children, Kimberley Dobson, Pearland, TX, Kip Emmerich, Overbrook, KS, Kandy York (Murry), Bahamas, Kevin Emmerich(Brenda), Hutchinson, Kris Emmerich, Keith Emmerich(Shelly), Hutchinson, 2 sisters, Alice Wingbermulle, St. Louis, MO and Marie Busch, Tenn, 17 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son in law, Ronald Dobson, and 2 sisters, Margaret Emmerich and Lucille Meier.
A parish rosary will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hutchinson, with Fr. Joe Eckberg presiding. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 AM, also at the church. Visitation will be held from 1-9PM Tuesday, with the family receiving friends from 6-9PM, all at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Hutchinson. Memorial contributions may be made to the family, for a charitable organization to be determined at a later date.
