Wayne Leon Archer, 68, died December 5, 2012 at Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita.
He was born March 6, 1944 in Norton, Kansas, the son of Leonard Wayne and Gladys Margaret Hofaker Archer.
He attended Logan High School, Logan, KS, and was a 1969 graduate of Fort Hays State University, Hays.
A resident of Dodge City for 42 years, he retired from Stewart Plumbing and Heating as Inventory Control Manager. While in Dodge City he spent 16 years as a Boot Hill Gunfighter. Wayne had many favorite pastimes, including going to auctions, woodworking, and playing cards with his family. He loved his pets, but his pride and joy was his grandchildren, moving to Hutchinson two years ago so he could be closer to them. He will be remembered for his “big heart” and being the kind of man that would do anything to help someone else out.
On September 20, 1969 he married Doris Ann Dragoo at Hays. She survives. Other survivors include: his children, Tim Archer, Hutchinson, and Becky Cox and husband Dennis, Wichita; and four grandchildren, Braden Archer, Noah Cox, Maryn Archer, and Matthew Cox.
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday December 8, 2012 at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, Hutchinson with Pastor Andy Addis presiding. Burial will be in Penwell Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
