William E. Hansen, 84, died November 10, 2012 at Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita. He was born June 18, 1928 in Eugene, OR, the son of Charles and Hazel Merritt Hansen. He was a graduate of Turon High School and had attended K-State University. A resident of Turon most of his life, he had most recently lived in Hutchinson. He was a farmer most of his life and had been a member of the Mason’s and the Oddfellow’s . He served as a CPL in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Yoshiko Nishikawa on February 24, 1953 in Tokya, Japan. She survives.
Other survivors include 2 daughters, Dianne Kutilek and husband Dr. Frank, Cheney and Donna Avant, California, 2 sons, Eddy Hansen, Edmond, OK and Mike Hansen, Hutchinson, KS, a sister, Joyce Shafer, Arizona, 3 grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Frankie, and Jamie, and 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lola Hansen.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday at Turon Cemetery, Turon, with Pastor Steve Gill presiding. Visitation will be held from 5-9PM Tuesday and 9AM to 9PM Wednesday, all at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Hutchinson. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bob Dole VA Medical Center, in care of the funeral home.
