Jerry Ray Crane, 57, of Hutchinson passed away Nov. 6, 2012 at his home. He was born July 3, 1955 in Hutchinson, the son of James E. and Phyllis J. Slack Crane. He was a Hutchinson High School graduate.
He was a retired Sergeant with the Reno County Sherriff’s Department, and had formerly worked for Jackson’s Ice Cream and Rawhide Trucking. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Local 18, Loyal Order of Moose #982, Knights of Columbus Council 612 and the Men’s Auxiliary of the V.F. W. Bob Campbell Post 1361.
On March 21, 1975 he married Carla Goertzen in Hutchinson, they later divorced. Survivors include a son, Mark Crane (fiance, Kelly McGrath), Placentia, CA, daughter, Melinda Crane, Hutchinson, brother, Gary Crane and sister Donna Morgan, both of Hutchinson, his mother, Phyllis Crane, Hutchinson, grandson, Garrett Davis, several nephews and nieces.
Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Friday at First Church of the Nazarene, Hutchinson, with Chaplain Willard D. Stafford presiding. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, with the family to recieve friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorials may be given to the Fraternal Order of Police Local 18 in care of the funeral home.
