Mary Ann (Wiley) McKenzie, 59, died July 4, 2015 at Hospice House in Hutchinson. She was born July 20, 1955 in Hutchinson. Mary was a 1974 graduate of McPherson High School. She then received her diploma in floral design from a Denver floral school. A resident of Hutchinson since 1984, she had previously lived in McPherson, Lindsborg, and Lyons. She was a floral designer at Hutchinson Floral. She was also the owner and designer of McKenzie Country Naturals, which gave her a creative outlet for her many talents, including floral design, quilting, Americana & wooden crafts, accent furniture, and many other unique custom pieces. She married Don McKenzie in 1988 in Lindsborg at the United Methodist Church. He survives.
Other survivors include 3 step children, Janice McKenzie-Radzikowski, Washington, Joy (McKenzie) Hirdler, California, and Scott McKenzie, Washington, three siblings, Kay Phillips, Spokane, WA, Chris Appodaca, Salina, and Patty Sump, Wakefield, KS, three grandchildren, McKenzie Hirdler, T.J. Hirdler, and Zoe McKenzie and a nephew,Tim Reazin, of Eudora, KS.
She was preceded in death by her son, Justin, her mother, Caroline Hartle, and her stepfather, Frank Hartle.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, Hutchinson. A private burial will take place following the services in Lyons. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until service time on Wednesday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity, in care of the funeral home.
