Joan Long, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, & great grandmother, passed away June 30, 2015 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born January 15, 1928. She was a proud graduate of Kansas State University, pursuing a career in teaching and accounting. She also worked for Wiley's Department Store and as an accountant for Hardee's Corporate Offices. She married Bill Long May 1, 1955 and they have resided in Hutchinson since 1958. He survives of the home.
Additional survivors include 4 children, Bill Long, Jr., Hutchinson, Ann Farley, Hutchinson, Jim Long, Ft. Worth, TX, and Scott Long (Tenley), Ocoee, FL, 2 brothers, Forrest Jacobs, Towanda, KS and Jim Jacobs, Farmington, NM, 5 grandchildren, Tessa Farley, Seth Farley, Sara Long, Rachel Burke, and Kyle Long (Ashley), and 4 great grandchildren, Reaghan Martin, Sam Martin, Audrey Burke, and Kennedy Long.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Lila Jacobs.
Joan loved her family, Royals baseball, & especially KSU football.
Cremation is planned. A come and go reception will be held Monday, July 6, 2015 from 5PM to 8PM, in the Penwell-Gabel Community Room, Hutchinson. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Hutchinson, in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Hutchinson.
