Jon C. Matula, 80, of Halstead, Kansas (formerly of Burrton, KS) passed away on Saturday June 13, 2015 in Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

He was born, December 11, 1934, in Bath, PA, the son of Paul L. Matula and Bessie Newhard Matula.

Jon was a 20 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He served in many countries abroad including Greenland and Okinawa. He retired in 1972.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marjorie A. Matula (Nitengale); Daughter Debora Castillo of Questa, New Mexico and son Marlon Matula of Burrton, KS; grandchildren Javier Castillo (friend Monica), Bianca Castillo (husband Jon Michael McElroy) and Reyna Castillo; two brothers, Martin Matula and his wife Fran and Carl Matula and his wife Sue; sister Carol Fishwick and her husband Jim; sister-in-law Shirley Matula; Brother-in-law Ralph Geist and his wife Doloris, Brother-in-law Wayne Nitengale and his wife Carol; many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Bessie Matula, brothers: Paul Matula, Jr and Edward Matula, sister Donna Warrington, brother- in-law Charles Warrington.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Halstead Mennonite Church on Wednesday June 17th at 10:30 am.
