Loyde William Alvis, 84, died April 13, 2015 at Elm Grove Estates, Hutchinson. He was born December 2, 1930 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of David and Cleo Bonner Alvis. He was a graduate of Marshalltown High School and Kansas City Business College, Kansas City, MO. A resident of Hutchinson since 2013, he had previously lived in Lander, WY, Brackettville, TX, and Cimarron, KS. He had worked as an accountant for Cimarron Insurance CO for 20 years and RLI Insurance, Peoria, IL for 10 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Las Moras Lodge #444, Brackettville, TX and Hagerman Baptist Church, Sherman, TX. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nadine Banner Alvis. He married Orlene J. Walters on August 9, 1971 in Cimarron. She survives.

Other survivors include 2 sons, David Alvis, Indian Harbor Beach, FL and Steven Alvis, Phoenix, AZ, a daughter, Karen Spencer, Medicine Lodge, KS, 1 step son, Martin Trent, Inman, 2 step-daughters, Mona Davis, Dallas, Penn. and Marla Werth, Smellville, GA, 14 grandchildren, and 35 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Richard and Robert Alvis, and a grandson, Jason McVey.

Cremation is planned. A Celebration of Life come and go gathering will be held from 2-5PM Saturday at the Penwell-Gabel Community Room, Hutchinson. Memorial contributions may be made to Dillon Nature Center, in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Hutchinson.
