Thomas A. Erhard Jr., 90, died March 8, 2015 at Hospice House. He was born Dec. 8, 1924 in Wellington, KS, the son of Thomas A. and Minnie McLain Erhard. He was a Hutchinson resident since 1937 moving from Kingman.
He was a graduate of Hutchinson High School. He was the Owner/Operator of Erhard Truck Line and had retired from Irsik & Doll Co. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving in the South Pacific. He had attended St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, was a member of the American Legion Lylse Rishel Post 68, was one of the founding members of the Horseless Carriage Club, Hutchinson Chapter and was a volunteer for the Reno County Food Bank.
On Feb. 10, 1950 he married Margaret “Peg” Dickenson in New Mexico, she survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Edie Biddle (Tim) San Rafael, CA, son Michael Erhard (Kathy), Hutchinson, a sister Janet Poulk, Tucson, AZ, two grandsons, Josh and Justin Biddle, two step-grandsons, Jason and Josh Henderson, and eight step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five sisters.
Funeral service will be 10:00am Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home with Fr. Nicholas Voelker presiding. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM Tuesday, with the family present from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Hospice House, Reno County Food Bank, or the St. Teresa’s Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
