Patricia L. Meier, 81, died December 22, 2014 at Prairie Sunset Home, Pretty Prairie, KS. She was born August 21, 1933 in Hutchinson, the daughter of Chester and Lucille Sherman Martin. She was a graduate of Hutchinson High School. During her high school years, she worked for Coberly Drug Store. She was a dental assistant for Dr. Jim Saylor and later was the office manager for Answer Right Answering Service, Hutchinson. She was a school bus driver for USD 310. She retired as a farm wife in Reno County. She attended South Hutchinson Christian Church. On July 2, 1954, she married Harley Meier in Hutchinson. He survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Julie Meier, White City, 3 sons, Artie (Teri) Meier, Larned, David Meier, Partridge, and Daniel (JoAnna) Meier, Garden City, a brother, Chester (Betty) Martin, Jr., Hutchinson, 8 grandchildren, Jason (Shelley) Meier, Ryan Meier, Brandon (Natasha) Meier, Clinton (Christy) Meier, Desiree (Reid) Penner, Matthew Meier, Ethan Meier, and Tad Meier, and 17 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Mark Meier, a baby sister, and a niece, Kim Martin.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Hutchinson, with Reverend Jeff Arnold presiding. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Visitation will be held from 3-9PM Tuesday, with the family present from 5-7PM that evening and from 8:00 AM until noon on Wed., all at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice or South Hutchinson Christian Church, both in care of the funeral home.
