Anthony “Tony” Frederick Temaat, 85, died, July 11, 2015 at Dillon Living Center. He was born July 24, 1929 in Ford County, KS, the son of William Gerard and Helen Ackerman Temaat.
A longtime Hutchinson resident, he graduated from Windthorst High School in 1947 and later graduated from Ft. Hays College with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Tony, along with his wife Edna were the former Owners/Operators of T& E Oil Company and were currently the Owners of the Temaat Business Center. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, a member of the Church of the Holy Cross, Knights of Columbus Council 7279 Life Member, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post 68, Kansas Oil Marketers Association and Senior Oil Marketers Association.
On August 18, 1956 he married Edna Stremel in Windthorst, KS, she survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Jo (Rick) Wooderson, Hutchinson, brothers; Leonard Temaat, Spearville, Sylvester (JoAnn) Temaat, Wichita, William (Shari), Colorado Springs, CO, sister, Eleanor Strecker, Spearville, two grandchildren; Jennifer Wooderson, Kansas City, MO, and Ryan Wooderson, Denver, CO. He was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Temaat, his parents, a brother, Msgr. Norbert Temaat, and a sister, Roseanne Temaat.
Parish Rosary will be 7:00 PM, Monday at the Church of the Holy Cross. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday at the Church of the Holy Cross, with Father Ned Blick celerating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Sunday and from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Church of the Holy Cross, Trinity Catholic High School, or the Wichita Diocese Priest Retirement Fund in care of the funeral home.
