James Thompson Nichols, 86, died July 4, 2015 at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born October 13, 1928 in Haileyville, OK, the son of Buster and Helen Pierce Nichols. He was a 1946 graduate of Enid High School, Enid, OK, and had attended Norman University, Norman, OK. A resident of Hutchinson since 1962, he had previously lived in Winfield. He was an insurance Salesman for Prudential most of his life and had previously worked for Davis Paint. He had served in the United States Marine Corp. He was a member of the Full Gospel Fellowship Church, Hutchinson, and the VFW. He married Kay Parker on November 12, 1999 in Hutchinson. She survives.
Survivors 2 children, Becky Holcomb (Tom), Hutchinson and Brent Nichols, Scottsdale, AZ, 4 step children, Kim Aden, Hutchinson, Kandace Aden (Dan), Hutchinson, Rick Jones, Salina, and Danny Jones (Heather), Mesa, AZ, 10 grandchildren, Sarah, Olivia, Kipp, Austin (Kaitlyn), Amber (Shawn), Zach (Brittany), Ryan, Katelyn, Ellie, and Parker, and one great grandchild, Blaze.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Buster Nichols and Helen Oliver, and a son in law, Jim Aden.
Cremation is planned. Per his wishes, no services are planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Penwell Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Hutchinson.
