Eugene “Gene” Braxton, 69, died Monday, May 25, 2015 at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He was born August 7, 1945 in Red River County, TX, the son of Clyde and Donia Fisher Braxton.
A longtime Hutchinson resident he was retired from Cessna/Eaton Corp. and also had worked part-time for Western Auto. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Delores Braxton, Hutchinson, children; Cynthia Ann Johnson, Paris, TX, Les Eugene Braxton, Patricia Kay Williams and Julius Lamont Braxton, all of Hutchinson, two brothers; Archie Hailey, Cleveland, OH, Arthaniel Hailey, Topeka, four sisters; Murphey Fuller, Palestine, TX, Joanne Dean, California, Wanda Joyce Abroy, Topeka, Sharon Scott, Cleveland, OH, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parent, a brother, James Fisher and a sister Marie Hailey.
Funeral service will be 10:00am, Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home with Reverend Stanley Johnson and Reverend William J. Green, Sr. presiding. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 9:00pm Thursday and 9:00am to 9:00pm Friday with the family present from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Terry C. Johnson Center for Cancer Research in care of the funeral home.
