Roberta L. (Wood) Schmidt, 86, died May 16, 2015, at Buhler Sunshine Home. She was born June 29, 1928 in Macksville, KS, the daughter of Glen E. and Adeline L. Anderson Wood.

She was a 1947 graduate of Macksville High School and had been a telephone operator, and was a homemaker and an avid craftswoman and bingo player.

On November 12, 1955 she married Walter Schmidt in Wichita, KS; he died May 24, 2001. Other survivors include two sons; Joe Butler (Marcene), Carl Schmidt (Willa), all of Macksville, KS, five daughters; Teresa Gardner, Great Bend, Carol Ledin (Karl), Zita Schmidt, of Hutchinson, Diana Schmidt (Kenneth Bolin Jr.), Nickerson and Donna Green (David), Inman, 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jarrel Wood and a son-in-law, Dan Gardner.

Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be 10:30 AM, Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Mayse presiding. There will be a book to sign 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
