Lonnie Duane Markhart, 73, died April 11, 2015 at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born September 8, 1941 in Utica, KS, the son of Lester and Ava Perkins Markhart. He was a graduate of Haven High School. A resident of Hutchinson most of his life, he was a mechanic and service station attendant, working for Eastside Oil CO and Orrin's Pit Stop. He was a faithful servant at New Life Church of the Nazarene. On August 17, 1963 he married Wanda Evans in Hutchinson. She survives.
Other survivors include 2 daughters, Robyn Markhart, Hutchinson and Ruth Ann Gilbert (Robert), Lawrence. adopted son, Jeff Englund, Overland Park, KS, 3 brothers, Ronnie (Lou Ann) Markhart, Hutchinson, Lester (Terri) Markhart, Jr., Hutchinson, and Bobby (Marlene) Markhart, Poplar Bluff, MO, and a sister, Gayle Markhart, Hutchinson, granddog, Nike, 3 grandcats, Smokey, Ella Bella, and Princess, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Francis Williams and Janet House, and a brother, Donald Markhart.
Visitation will be held from 9AM to 9PM Tuesday, with the family present from 6-8PM that evening at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Hutchinson. Cremation will follow. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at New Life Church of the Nazarene, Hutchinson, with Pastor Gary Worthington presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House or the church, both in care of the funeral home.
