1918 - 2015

Alta M. Prevo, 96, died March 14, 2015 at Hospice House. She was born December 2, 1918 in Redwing, KS, the daughter of Adolph and Matilda Mauler Kahler.

She was a lifelong Hutchinson resident, and a 1938 graduate of Coldwater High School. She was a homemaker and retired Head Cook for Hutchinson High School. She was of the Nazarene faith, and a member of Order of the Eastern Star.

On January 8, 1940 she married Clyde Prevo in Newton, KS, he died August 18, 2014. Other survivors include their daughter, Debra and son-in-law, Scott Cox, Grove, OK, sister, Cecilia Cole, Hutchinson, five grandchildren; Ben Wahlers, Angela Dvorak, Dana Cox, Chris Cox, Valerie Cox and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters.

Funeral service will be 10:30am Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home with Pastor Bones Nay presiding, burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 9:00am to 9:00pm Friday, with the family present from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to Hospice House in care of the funeral home
