Joyce L. Potter, 56, died Aug. 18, 2014 at Hospice House. She was born Oct 4, 1957 in Hutchinson, the daughter of Claude and Betty Killian Cox. She was a lifetime Hutchinson resident and was a 1976 graduate of Hutchinson High School.
She was employed by USD 308 as a shipping clerk. She was a devoted grandmother, loved gardening, her birds, her dog, and she had a love for dance, and she had attended CrossPoint Church.
Survivors include her children, Sarah Potter and Ross Potter, both of Hutchinson, a brother, Jimmie Cox, Wichita, two sisters; Brenda Bunyard, Fredonia, and Claudia White, Wichita, half-brother, Claude Lee Cox and half-sister, Tonya Tangie, both of Iowa, and two grandchildren; Devan Ephraums and Jacob Gumm. She was preceded in death by her life partner, Charles Potter, her father Claude and mother, Betty McAdams.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial graveside service will be 10:30 AM at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum. There will be a book to sign from 9am to 9pm, Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Cancer Council of Reno County in care of the funeral home.
