Walter E. Cornwell, 82, died August 5, 2014 at the Hutchinson Care Center. He was born February 2, 1932 in Hutchinson, the son of Walter and Kitty Click Cornwell. A resident of Hutchinson all of his life, he worked for the Rock Island and Southern Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1993.

Survivors include his children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and a sister.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and his girlfriend, Treeta Blanton.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Fairlawn Burial Park, with Pastor Wayne Pittman presiding. Visitation will be held from 1-9PM Monday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Hutchinson. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, in care of the funeral home.
