Gary R. Gettle, 70, went to his eternal home on October 5, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita. He was born October 26, 1943 in Wichita, the son of Willard and Lucille Johnson Gettle. He graduated from Campus High School, Wichita and later received his bachelor's degree. He retired as an executive from the manufacturing/distribution industry. He was a member of the Bestor G. Brown Lodge #433, Wichita Consistory, Ivy Leaf Order of the Eastern Star, SCORE, and Friends in Action. He was also a member of Crosspoint Church, Hutchinson. Gary served in the United States Navy for four years. On March 26, 1964 he married Carolyn Hazelton. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Willard "Bud" Gettle and wife Christina, Hutchinson, a daughter, Wyndi Busick and husband Dustin, Manhattan, a sister, Judy Gettle Thomas, Wichita, 7 grandchildren, Zach, Colton, Kynadi, Cameron, Rylie, Jorden, and Travis, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Bud and Bill Gettle, and a sister, Pat Gettle.
Cremation is planned. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 Friday at Crosspoint Church, Hutchinson. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends in Action, in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Hutchinson.
