Archie G. Johnson, 95, died September 24, 2014 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born April 28, 1919 in Bollivar, MO, the son of Bert and Gertrude Austin Johnson. He served in the US Army from 1942 to 1946, where he was a POW from 1945 to 1946. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a TWA Pilot Trainer in Kansas City, MO, retiring in 1976. Archie was a man of many talents, such as building customs homes, furniture, and jewelry. He also enjoyed restoring antique cars. He was a 32 degree Mason for 50 plus years. He married Jennie Huffman on December 21, 1946. She survives.
Survivors include 2 nieces, Jan Uhl, Tulsa, OK and Sandy Goltry (Rod), Hutchinson, a nephew, Russ Johnson (Karen), Fort Collins, CO. He was a very loving uncle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, and 6 brothers.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery, Springfield, MO, with Pastor Wayne Pittman presiding. Visitation will be held from 9AM to 9PM Monday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Hutchinson. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors, in care of the funeral home.
