Frances J. Woodworth, 89, died July 23, 2014 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born July 29, 1924 in Osborne County, KS, the daughter of Lee and Emma Duryea DeMoss.
She was a graduate of Kansas Wesleyan University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and was a Laboratory Technician for the Greeley County Hospital, St. Elizabeth Hospital, Grace Hospital and Hutchinson Hospital. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church serving as an Elder and involved in the Horizon Circle, and was a former member of the Mother’s Club.
On May 25, 1947, she married Rev. Raymond A. Woodworth in Osborne, KS; he died Jan. 5, 2000. Survivors include her children, Philip Woodworth (Amy), Lenexa, KS, Thomas Woodworth (Mary), Hutchinson, KS, and Jolene Ekstrum (Benny), Vermillian, KS, a sister, Edith Heisz, Newton, KS, 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother and 3 sisters.
Cremation has taken place and memorial service will be at 11:00 AM, Sat. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lowell Knauss presiding. Inurnment will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park. There will be a book to sign from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Fri. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church, Hutchinson or the Good Samaritan Fund at Wesley Towers, Hutchinson in care of the funeral home.
