Donald Henry Stovall, Sr., 82, died April 13, 2014, at Hutchinson Care Center. He was born May 6, 1932 in Ottawa, Kan., the son of Dale A. and Earsel E. Crowl Stovall.
He was retired from the United States Army, and had worked for Civil Service in Dugway, Utah, before returning to South Hutchinson and was the Owner and Operator of Don’s Bait and Tackle. He had served as the past president of the Gem and Mineral Society. On Sept. 4, 1953, he married Billie Lucille Stovall in Indianapolis, Ind. She died Oct. 19, 2001. Other survivors include: two sons, Donald H. Stovall Jr., Robert A. Stovall, both of South Hutchinson; a daughter, Patricia C. Caswell of Hutchinson; a brother, Bernard Stovall; six grandchildren, Christina M.A. Torres, Brittany D. McMurphy, Heidi Stovall, Michael Stovall, Shaun Stovall, Alex Stovall; and four great-grandchildren, Deklyn Neal McMurphy, Weston Michael Stovall, Mason Robert Stovall, and Kaleb Lee Stovall. He was preceded in death by a son, Randolph P. Stovall.
Celebration of Life will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory. There will be a register book to sign 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Disabled American Veterans in care of the funeral home.
