John Stapleton
1930 - 2014

John T. Stapleton, 83, died February 5, 2014 at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born April 25, 1930 in Hoxie, the son of Reuben and Alice Lewis Stapleton. A resident of Hutchinson most of his life, he had been in building maintenance for William Kelley Milling Co for 17 years, First United Methodist Church for 25 years, and most recently had worked for Dillons for 10 years. He married Dorce Huston in 1955. They divorced. In 1990, he married Linda Meek. They also divorced.

Survivors include his daughter, Ronda Goss, Hutchinson, his son, Jeffrey (Bonnie) Stapleton, Hutchinson, 3 brothers, Kenneth Stapleton, Wichita, George Stapleton, Louisville, KY, and Robert Stapleton, Hutchinson, a sister, Ruby Chronister, Hutchinson, 4 grandchildren, Kristofer Ryan, Annie Thompson, Heather James, and Josh Stapleton, 5 great grandchildren, Samantha, Dusti, Payton, Morgan, and Julia, and his special friend, Sondra Knight.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Max, Paul, and Wilbur, and 2 sisters, Rosalie Wolf and Eunice Schroeder.

Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Carey presiding. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Friends may sign the memorial book from 9AM to 9PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House in care of the funeral home.
