Lois Irene Smith, 92, of Hutchinson, died Feb. 26, 2010 at Good Samaritan. She was born Nov. 29, 1917 in rural Oregon Co., MO, the daughter of Elige and Edith G. Jolliff Mobley.
A Hutchinson resident since 1944, she had worked during World War II, in a garment factory producing Army fatigues, in Hutchinson she would become one of the first employees of Doskocil Food Service.
On Nov. 29, 1932, she married Henry J.A. Smith in West Plains, MO, he died Dec. 3, 1992. Survivors include, two sons; Jim Smith and Loyd Smith, both Hutchinson, three daughters; Ruth Holloway, Topeka, Hazel Brawner, Hutchinson, Nancy Olson, Mountain Home, AR, 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 32 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers; Ivan and Jess Mobley, three sisters; Clara Yockham, Mary Giles and Vondia Garrett, 2 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 2:00pm Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum with Chaplain Sara Davis Blodgett presiding. Friends may call from 9:00am to 9:00pm Monday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Reno County or Good Samaritan in care of the funeral home.
