Iola M. Demanett, 88, formerly of Hutchinson, died Feb. 26, 2010 at Via Christi, St. Francis, Wichita. She was born Aug. 29, 1921, in Marquette, KS the daughter of Victor and Wilmine Irvin Johnson. She graduated from Marquette High School and had been a Hutchinson resident since 1945.
She had worked for Kress’s and was a Sales Clerk and Gift Wrapper for Wiley’s. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a 40 year member of the American Legion Post 68 Ladies Auxiliary.
On Jan. 4, 1948, she married Floyd C. Demanett in Hutchinson, he survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Jo Smith, Wichita, 3 grandchildren, and a great grandson. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter.
Memorial service will be 1:00 PM Monday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Conard presiding. Friends may call from 1-9pm Sunday at the funeral home. Cremation will take place and a private family burial will follow at Fairlawn Burial Park. Memorials may be given to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research in care of the funeral home.
