Hazel Linder, 93, of Hutchinson, died Feb. 7, 2010, at Promise Regional Medical Center. She was born March 27, 1916 at Nashville, KS, the daughter of John and Mary Hawley Krengel. She was a graduate of Nashville High School and had attended Northwestern College at Alva, OK and Emporia State University.
A Hutchinson resident since 1974 moving from the Huntsville community where they had farmed, she had also worked as a Library Assistant for Hutchinson Community College, retiring in 1979.
On April 22, 1941 she married Zerah R. Linder at Hutchinson, he died May 8, 1983. Survivors include a daughter, Karolyn Ely and husband Earl, Haven, KS, three granddaughters; Amber and Michael Casement, Wichita, Robin Ely, Chicago, IL, and Brooke Ely, Wichita, KS, two great-grandchlidren; Brittani Casement and Mitchael Casement, both of Wichita. She was preceded in death by a brother Greorge Krengel and two sisters, Josephine “Jo” Fanning and Mary Linder.
Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Friday, at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, with the Rev. Dr. Susan Wickiser presiding. Private burial will take place in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum. Friends may call from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home
